Also called typical acquired nevi, they can vary widely in appearance. They are usually of homogeneous surface and color, rounded or oval in shape and with well-defined and uniform edges. They may have hairs on their surface but often thicker, longer and darker.
Although each case must be individualized, the following indications for its elimination are considered:
- Cosmetic purposes, at the request of the patient.
- Repeated trauma or ongoing irritation.Hidden location (scalp, perineum), especially in patients with a history of nevus with malignant characteristics.
- Moles with atypical characteristics. For example, suspicious nevi with highly pigmented or irregular borders may be found in patients with fair skin.
- Rapid growth
It is important to carry out a prior assessment of the moles to be treated and, in case of doubt, carry out a histological study before completely removing the lesion. If a lesion with malignant characteristics is confirmed, the relevant specialists will be referred.
Remember, if you notice any change in the characteristics of your mole, go for a medical evaluation, prevention is the most important thing.
