Rhinoplasty - Nose Surgery
The nose fully defines the profile of the face, it is important that it is harmonic and that it enhances our most flattering facial features. Rhinoplasty is a remodeling procedure with which we will get a suitable profile for our face.
Rhinoplasty is a cosmetic surgery aimed at correcting or improving the aesthetic appearance of the nose and adapting it to the facial features of the patient.
Through rhinoplasty you can increase or decrease the size of the nose, shape the tip or the nasal back and correct deviations; in this way we obtain a nose of natural shapes and proportions and in accordance with the patient's face. If there is a deviation of the nasal septum that causes respiratory distress, a septoplasty, corrective surgery of the nasal septum, is performed.
Dr. Felipe Galiano and his team will be by your side before, during and after the plastic surgery you have.
Improve the structure of the nose and facial profile. The surgical intervention lasts between one and two hours. Final result visible in about 12 months. A week of bruising and discomfort.

What does nose surgery consist of?
In correcting its profile, shape or size by means of surgical intervention. The most frequent are:
- Ablation of the bump, correction of a saddled nose.
- Tip decrease.
- Rectification of a deviated nose (septum).
Rhinoplasty molds the bone structure and cartilage of the nose under the skin, in this way we let it be the elasticity of our skin that adapts to this new structure naturally. To access the bone and cartilage, two small incisions are made inside the nostrils, hiding the scar. After the intervention is completed, a nasal splint is placed to protect the nose, limit post-operative inflammation and keep the structures in shape during the first days after the intervention. In many cases, there is also a nasal tamponade that is removed 24-72 hours after the operation.
What age is indicated to do it?
Usually, this type of operation is performed from the age of 17, since it is considered that at this age the bones are definitely formed, without problems of subsequent bone growth.
Lifting a drooping tip or lowering a nasal trestle greatly rejuvenates a face, so it can be recommended for women 40-50 and older.
What kind of anesthesia is used? Is hospitalization necessary?
The intervention is performed under general anesthesia. The patient will remain in the hospital for 24 hours.
How is the intervention? Is it painful?
Incisions are made inside the nose and through them, the problem is corrected. In some cases incisions at the base of the nose are necessary.
It is more bothersome due to nasal packing and plaster, which must be worn in the first 7/8 days. Although some post-operative edema and bruising on the face are common.
Are there any signs of the operation?
Nasal surgery does not usually leave visible scars since the incisions are made in the lower part of the nose. Sometimes an incision must be made at the base of the nose, but it is usually not visible.
How long does it take to be able to lead a "normal" life?
The patient will be able to join their usual occupations after 10 days.
What results can be expected? Can they be seen in advance?
They are usually extremely positive, radically improving the appearance of the face.
The type of nose that remains is not as important as the fact that the new nose is integrated and in full harmony with the face of the face.
In any case, the final result must be assessed one year after the intervention.
It cannot be anticipated by computer, if you can work on different photos of the patient and decide, with the help of these, the modifications to be obtained.
Do I need to do any further touch-ups?
Sometimes, when several defects have to be corrected (“complicated” nose), it is necessary to do a touch-up after a few months. Almost always very brief and with local anesthesia.
